About our Soto Viñuelas Photo Hides
The photographic hides of MADRID PHOTONATURE in SOTO VIÑUELAS are designed and conceived for the photography of BIRDS and MEDITERRANEAN MAMMALS just a few kilometres from the city centre of Madrid.
Our proposal is to offer quality wildlife photography services, always with species of interest and natural scenery, with the added convenience of easy access. Overall, a highly sustainable activity.
One of the key locations of this project is the SOTO VIÑUELAS estate in Tres Cantos, just 15 minutes drive from the Paseo de la Castellana. One of the best preserved Mediterranean pastures in Spain, just a few kilometres from Madrid airport.
The Photographic Hides
Our services will include some fixed hides, available all year round, and many others portable and seasonal. We will make an ongoing effort, updating you week by week with the availability of hides at each moment of the year as there are seasonal species that will only be available for a few weeks each year.
Season
Our photo hide Soto Viñuelas offers an interesting collection of different types of animals depending on the period of the year. Here is a list of the animals that you can photograph in different seasons.
Spring season
- BIG RAPTORS HIDES (4 places): (with imperial eagles, kites, buzzards and vultures. Spring is best, as with the arrival of the heat and the reproductive period the raptor hides are less productive). 120€
- PASSERIFORM AND PICIDES HIDES (4 places): Hawfinches, yellowhammers, crested tits, warblers, nuthatches, woodcreepers, woodpeckers…, a fun hide with a wide variety of Mediterranean birds. 60€ per person.
- BEEATER HIDES (6 places): Close photography of these colourful migratory birds on a natural perch. 90€ per person.
- LITTLE OWL HIDE ( 2 places) Photography on natural perch. 90€ per person
- AQUATIC BIRD HIDES (4 places): depending on the season, stilts, great sandpipers, shelducks, little egrets and little terns, plovers, mallards…). 90€ per person.
- COMMON CUCKOO HIDE ( 2 places): Photography of common cuckoo on a natural perch. 90€ per person.
- WOODCHAT SHRIKE HIDE ( 2 places): Photograph of woodchat shrike on a natural perch. 75€ per person.
- HOOPOE HIDES ( 2 places): Hoopoe photograph on a natural perch. 90€ per person.
- GOLDEN ORIOLE HIDE ( 2 places): Photography of Eurasian golden oriole on perch. 90€ per person.
Winter season
- BIG RAPTOR HIDES (4 places): with imperial eagles, kites, buzzards and vultures. 120€ per person.
- PASSERIFORM AND PICIDES HIDES (4 places): Hawfinches, Dartford, Dartford Warblers, Blue Tits, Blackcaps, Nuthatches, Eurasian Nuthatches… ,a fun hide with a wide variety of Mediterranean birds. 60€ per person.
- GOSHAWK HIDES (2 places): Photography of a goshawk on a perch or water source. 120€ per person.
- HIDE OF UNGULATES (4 places): Deer, fallow deer and roe deer with bait. 90€ per person
Children under 16 years old have a special rate with a 40% discount when accompanied by an adult.
Vouchers and Workshops
VOUCHER 5 sessions with access to any hides: 480€.
VOUCHER 10 sessions with access to any hides: 895€.
(If WildwatchingSpain would be at some point unable to offer the services mentioned above for any reason, such as environmental authorisations being paused, the non-used amount of each voucher will be refunded to the client.)

Technical advice and material
The passerine feeders are designed to be photographed at a distance of 4.5 metres from our focal plane.
Those of picidae, with the exception of the black woodpecker at 6.5 m and the black woodpecker at 8 m focal length.
Eagles and vultures at 15 metres.
A tripod will be essential. And bring a high capacity memory card.
With lenses between 300mm and 500mm we will be able to cover all our needs.
400mm is an all-round lens for these hides.
During the winter it is highly recommended to wear two pairs of socks, gloves and a hat. Very necessary during the first hours of the day. After that, as soon as the sun comes out the temperature will rise rapidly. It is advisable to wear several layers to adapt to these changes.

How to get there?
SOTO VIÑUELAS is located next to the town of TRES CANTOS in Madrid. From the centre of Madrid you can get there from the M-607 taking exit 21, then take Avenida del Parque and Avenida de la Almenara and then take the road to Soto Viñuelas.
After passing EDAR by King’s Collegue of Madrid you will reach the road to the “Castillo” (castle) of Soto Viñuelas.
Our guides will be waiting for you at the entrance to the estate.
Accommodation
We recommend accommodation in the towns of TRES CANTOS or ALCOBENDAS due to their proximity to the farm.
